Every product is engineered in CAD with design-for-manufacture principles, tolerancing, material selection, and impression count all optimised before any steel is cut.
This is the stage that decides whether your product costs pennies or pounds per unit. Decades of moulding knowledge get applied here, so there are no surprises later.
Engineering · CAD & DFM
Hardened steel mould tools, machined and assembled in-house by our own toolmaker. Tools are modular, with interchangeable inserts, so products can be adapted, rebranded with your own name or logo, or modified without starting from scratch.
Already have tooling from another supplier? We can take on existing tools and run production from them. Tooling typically starts from £5,000.
Tooling · Hardened steel
Injection moulding on-site in Basildon, Essex, with batch QA on every run. Pantone colour matching across a full material range, ABS, polypropylene, nylon, polycarbonate and more. Minimum runs of 5,000 pieces.
And because we have our own warehouse, we can store your finished product and fulfil orders directly, a genuine end-to-end service most manufacturers can't offer.
Production · QA & fulfilment
Rega Research, the Southend-on-Sea hi-fi maker behind the Planar turntables, wanted to modernise the bias housing moulding that works with the RB110 tonearm on the Planar 1. Rega supplied a CAD file of the component, and our design team worked alongside theirs to improve the rigidity of the housing, lifting both performance and sound quality.
The original moulding was made up of three individual components. Alplas re-engineered it into two, reducing moulding cost and cycle time, and replaced the oversized standard polypropylene with glass-filled nylon for strength and integrity. Design modification, tooling, injection moulding and stock holding, all handled under one roof.
